If I am following Jesus because of my whimsy, instead of out of my desperate NEED: my need that cries our “KYRIE ELEISON! LORD, HAVE MERCY ON ME!”… Then I am not a Christian.

No, a Christian is someone who sees the cross, and SEES ITS NECESSITY. A Christian is someone who knows God, Father and Son and Holy Spirit; and who knows that Jesus of Nazareth, true God and true Man, shed his blood on the cross and that without it, we would be damned.

But a Christian is also one who knows that WITH the cross; WITH Jesus’ blood shed for us; WITH that, there is salvation. There is forgiveness. There is life, and LIFE everlasting.

Jesus will return. At that time both we and the world will be remade, without corruption or evil, and Jesus will reign as out king forever and ever.

Jesus has died. Jesus lives. And Jesus is coming. THAT is the belief of the Christian.
