Alleluia, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Alleluia, alleluia!

MAY THE PEACE OF THE LORD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS!

We will trust, O Lord, in you! In YOU, we will have our confidence! Satan prowls like a roaring lion, but the Lion of Judah is greater! In YOU, O Lord, is our confidence!

Do you have ANY IDEA just how much God loves you? ANY IDEA: to sacrifice; to kill; to watch suffer; the one that he loves most; his only begotten Son? ANY IDEA how deep his love for you is? ANY IDEA the length he went to to assure that Satan and Sin and Death would not have you, but that instead you would be with him forever? Do you have ANY IDEA how cherished you are; the most cherished possession of his in all creation? Oh, you treasure… you treasure… do you know how high the price paid for you? Do you KNOW how limitless your worth is… to your Lord?
God the Father loves you. Jesus Christ loves you. The Holy Spirit loves you. More than anything in the world.

The present sufferings are what surround us now; they are what we FEEL NOW. And because of that, we can fall into despair. We can lose our hope in that kingdom that is SO WONDERFUL and so FULL OF PEACE that it puts this present age’s sufferings to shame. When we need to be reminded, where will we go? We turn to the Lord. We turn to Jesus Christ. We listen to his word.

REMEMBER CHRIST! And remember that YOU do not have to worry about the world being just towards you; listen to St. Paul: THE LORD takes care of that! So you don’t have to worry about handing out punishment! YOU just have to worry… about love.

So as we gather together, people of God, and as we once again come into contact with God this very morning, with the purpose that we are EMBOLDENED as we gather here, in order that we may be EMBOLDENED in the way that we speak when we are out in the world. As we are refreshed, once more, to go out into the fray; out once more to the thin red line; out once more to the front lines;
As we are equipped with Spirit and Word and flesh and blood of Christ; as we have this time, it is good that we take the opportunity to take stock, and look at those whom we seek to serve, and to take inventory.
Because it is a different cultural landscape that we traverse now than perhaps we have traversed before. And it is important that we acknowledge something we may not want to acknowledge, but that we better deal with, if we hope to share the one true Lord, JESUS CHRIST, with the people within our community. Because the truth is, as we continue to live in a more and more post-Christian culture, one thing is clear about many that we live side by side with:
THEY DON’T GET IT.

WORSHIP is not a solo performance, but an interactive work of and for the people, in fellowship with the pastor, as designed by Scripture. It has a rhythm, from God to us, from us to God, then back again, and then from us to the world.
WORSHIP points us away from ourselves and toward God. God’s promises to us are fulfilled through the divine service.
