Sunday Devotion: In His Mercy, He Waits…

Some do not know him. Some do not understand him. Some do not think they need him. Some Satan has wrestled away through deception. And some; many; have been soiled on Jesus because one of his followers; or even a church; has been a poor representative of him.

So what more can Christ do, then what he has done? After giving his life, what more is there to give for these, whom he loves, who do not know him? You know those that you love who do not have faith? Do you not know how much more Jesus loves them than you? He does. He wants them. They flee. What more can he do?

Well, here’s what he does: in his mercy, he waits. He waits. As we talked about last week; those whom WE may have given up hope on, he has not. And because of that, he waits.

Morning Devotion: The Lord Waits For The Lost!

Well, here’s what God does: in his mercy, he waits. He waits. As we talked about last week; those whom WE may have given up hope on, he has not. And because of that, he waits.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promises.” It is almost like St. Peter is saying, “Is THAT why you think the Lord has not yet returned? Because he’s SLOW? NO! That’s not it! You see, it is just like EVERYTHING the Lord does! He is slow because he is MERCIFUL!”

What does he say? “He is patient with you…” and here’s the thing… “NOT WANTING ANYONE TO PERISH, but everyone to come to repentance.”

“Comfort. Comfort.” Exhausted, heart broken for the lost, followers of Jesus Christ; hear the word of the Lord. Comfort. Comfort.

Morning Devotion: He Has Mercy On Us!

The Lord knows that we will all have moments where we will need to be reminded of the identity of Jesus; of who he really is. He sees our weakness, even in the face of his direct revelation. But HE HAS MERCY ON US in these things.

And as St. Paul tells us in the epistle lesson today, IT IS THE LORD JESUS CHRIST who will sustain you till the end. Look; he has made you anew in the waters of your rebirth. Look: he sustains you in the witness of John the Baptist. Look! He gives you his body and blood to eat and drink in order that you might be FED the blessings of forgiveness he has to give you!

Evening Devotion: God Is Lord!

  •
    • THE WORD OF GOD HAS COME TO YOU! JUST LIKE TO JONAH AND TO LUTHER.

      • And we cannot say, “The word is not for them,” like Jonah.

      • And we cannot say, “But it is too difficult a thing,” just as Luther did not turn away, though danger faced him.

  • Instead, we go forth in the world, as CHAMPIONS of Christ, ever proclaiming…as a people of joy…to the world to COME – GOD IS LORD, and HIS MERCY IS FOR ALL!
