Evening Devotion: Satan Is The Mighty Foe

But SATAN as our enemy? As a real, personal being, who actually exists and is our enemy? Well, THAT conjures up images of pitch forks and spiked tails; of red tights and horns and goatees. And THAT is just silly! Satan, surely, is merely some sort of Christian boogey man: the thing that followers of Jesus talk about to scare their children.

Surely we’re too sophisticated now to believe in something like that. We are too enlightened, spiritually, of course. We know too much know to worry about things like demons and spirits and the like, clean or otherwise.

Only, here’s the problem with that: it seems as though JESUS is VERY concerned about Satan and his demons. JESUS OF NAZARETH confronts them. He battles them. He speaks of them. He WARNS us of them. He certainly acknowledges their existence. And he sees them as the enemy.

So, fellow Christians, you know what we do. We are not more “spiritually sophisticated” than the Son of God. We have not come farther than him in seeing the world for what it REALLY is. And if JESUS says to be weary of Satan; and if he calls us out and speaks that we are in a WAR; though it is even a war unseen;

Then WE ARE AT WAR. And Satan is the mighty foe.

Morning Devotion: Jesus Will Return!

Let us, if need be, face persecution so that we are not so comfortable in the world that Satan uses to blind us from reality! And let us ACT and LIVE as though Jesus WILL return, because, you know what? He REALLY REALLY WILL!

And finally, let us live, therefore, like our God lives. Let us look around at those around us… and let us love.

Morning Devotion: Jesus Loves Me! So Who Can Stand Against me!?

For now, you can look at your sin, and know that as a child of God, your SINS ARE FORGIVEN! You can see your despair, and in those dark moments, you know YOU can have hope! And ANY time that anyone says, or you begin to feel, like you are worthless, you can remember that you are so valuable to God that he gave his SON’S LIFE for you, and you can say:
“Get outta my head Satan! I am not worthless! I am not pointless! I am not hopeless! I am, instead, a beloved person; the most cherished of God’s creation! Jesus loves me! So who can stand against me!”

Afternoon Devotion: Nothing Can Steal Our Faith!

God can only be trusted “no matter what”. NO MATTER WHAT. And this is the greatest thing: for now NOTHING can steal our faith: NOTHING can take away our HOPE! The world, and Satan, all he can do is try and dissuade us; try and TRICK us; try and distract us. He cannot steal the promises of Jesus away from us. HE CANNOT TAKE OUR CONFIDENCE!

Morning Devotion: Come Lord Jesus!

Whenever confronted with the evil one and all his ways, let us pride not in our own strength. But let us instead take pride in who we have faith in. Let us call on the name of Jesus Christ! And when Satan himself approaches, let us, with courage, look at him and say,

“Hey Satan. Have you met my buddy?” And let us stand behind Jesus Christ. Come Lord Jesus! Amen.

Friday Devotion: You Are Forgiven!

There will not be shame for you on the day of Christ’s return. So many times there are those who speak this way. Who say this sentence that I NEVER want to hear us speak. This sentence that Satan uses against us:

“Yes, you are forgiven, BUT…” That is what Satan says. And it sounds like him just the same as when he was wrapped around a tree trying to convince Eve to take a bite of the forbidden fruit.

Evening Devotion: Our Champion Jesus Christ!

HE COMES as a defender of the weak; HE COMES for the widow and orphaned: HE COMES for his people. HE COMES to conquer Satan under his heel, and to abolish death with but a word!

IT IS FOR THAT…that our champion Jesus Christ, was sacrificed… but not forgotten… by the Father. It is for Isaiah, and for all the infants who have no protection in this world; it is for the helpless, rocking in a sea of turmoil; that he has come.

He is the shield from the arrows of sin. He is the shinning light in this world of darkness. And he takes all the offense out of our radical belief.
