Morning Devotion: Jesus Is Coming Back!

He is coming back; and with his return, all the brokenness of creation is GONE! It is GONE! It is GONE, and all that remains is a creation with all its beauty intact. It is the wonder of the embrace of a loved one, only without the dread of losing them! It is the elation of a kind word from a friend; only in a place where love does not end! It is the sense of comfort and peace we get in those moments when we can feel the presence of Christ!

Evening Devotion: Your Self-Concept

“You are to name him ‘Jesus’?” Why? “For he shall save his people from their sins.”

THAT is who you are. THAT is your self-concept. THAT is something that no one; not Satan, not death, not anyone in the world, and not your own sin; can take away. His name is JESUS! And how apt a name! For he has saved you from your sins!

Morning Devotion: Christ Has First Done Everything For you!

So the positive things you identify yourself with? The roles your play; the job you have; the things you enjoy; all those things you can see through this truth: you are a child of God. You belong to Jesus Christ. And so you can serve others and work and play and have EVERYTHING you do flow from the fact that Christ has first done everything for you!

Holy Week Devotion: Jesus is your Oxi-Clean

Spit on. Mocked. Struck. Scourged. Put on trial. Nailed to a cross. Crucified. Every shame and abuse imaginable. The Holy One; the innocent one; the Lamb of God, with fleece whiter than snow: Muddied, bloodied, stuck to a piece of wood, so that God’s wraith would be poured out against him. What sense does this make? What does this mean?

I’ll tell you what it means.

It means Jesus is your Oxi-clean.

PALM SUNDAY DEVOTION

The holy one who comes into Jerusalem innocent, unblemished, so undefiled that they lay their palm branches and cloaks before his donkey so that even it’s hooves would not be sullied by the dust of the ground; only to a week later be ultimately defiled, mocked, spit upon, tortured, and to die so that we one day we would be as him: innocent, unblemished, undefiled.
